“Judicial Hellhole”

Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love, has a less affectionate nickname if you ask oil companies and the insurance industry. They’re calling it a “Judicial Hellhole.”

On December 10, 2024, big money corporate interests published a top-10 list of cities, counties, and states that their board rooms are calling “Judicial Hellholes.”  They’re crying fire and brimstone in any courtroom  where communities hold negligent corporations accountable with verdicts that properly compensate victims for the harm they suffered.

Philadelphia ranked at the top of their list, and the $816,000,000 dollar verdict secured by Locks Law Firm partner Andrew J. DuPont  in the matter Gill v. Exxon Mobil ranked at the top of their highest verdicts in Pennsylvania in 2024. Locks Law Firm appreciates the acknowledgment, but objects to the attacks in this publication directed at the citizens of Philadelphia who served on the jury, and the false claim that the Judge instructed the jury about climate change, when no such instruction was ever given.

When corporate interests put a target on your lawyers, you know they’re doing something right. At Locks Law Firm, we’ve heard the corporate lies, and know how to defeat them.
